If you’re more likely to find your mum hiking up a mountain than baking brownies, then you’re probably going to have to do a bit better than a bunch of drooping daffs this Mother’s Day. If you’ve got a super-mum who is always ready for the next challenge, then why not give her something to really get her teeth into this March 15? Maybe you can see her racing around the track at Silverstone or driving a monster truck – it might not that different to what she does in her 4×4, though. Or how about getting her to throw herself out of a plane (with no help from son-in-laws allowed)?
Adventurous experiences are great for creating lifelong memories – just make sure that your mum is physically fit enough to cope with the challenge and that it fits in with what she likes to do. A taster flying lesson, for example, can be a great idea for a woman with piloting dreams, but it would be a nightmare for a mum who gets dizzy climbing a ladder. The same is true for gifts such as a tandem skydiving adventure. Throwing yourself out of a plane whilst two miles above the ground is not for everyone, although it will give her one heck of an adrenalin buzz if she can muster up the nerve. The excitement is almost the same with bungee jumping. If you’ve got a mum who could put Bear Grylls to shame when it comes to living up to life’s challenges, then buy her the chance to leap from 300ft whilst attached to nothing more than a giant rubber band.
If you bought her a mini cruise last year and want to carry on with the theme, get her a new set of luggage for her next trip. If, however, you bought her a book on how best to fight crocodiles in the Amazon, then she will love being given a chance to have a go at white-water rafting. You could even organise a day for the whole family to enjoy. Go on, or are you too chicken? If your mum and dad are the bickering type, send them both out paintballing for the day. They can chase each other around the woods for a few hours – something they just might not have done since before you were born. Whatever you choose, make sure your mum has a great time and that you capture the look on her face when she opens one of these gifts.
