Everything You Need To Know This World Mental Health Day

World Mental Health Day falls on 10th October, and this year the campaign will focus on the changing world and its impact on young people.

1-in-4 people will experience poor mental health at some point in their lives; by talking openly and raising awareness of its affects, World Mental Health Day aims to educate and teach people that #ItsOkayNotToBeOkay

How can I get involved?

  • Sign the petition. Mental Health Foundation has launched the Make It Count campaign, because mental health is not extracurricular. With more young people struggling to cope, they want mental health to be at the heart of the school curriculum. Sign the petition here.
  • Use the hashtags #WorldMentalHealthDay, #WMHD2018 and #WMHD18 when tweeting. The more open we are, the more comfortable people will be talking if they are concerned about their own mental health.
  • Support a mental health charity via Give as you Live, and raise free funds every time you shop. Whether they’ve helped you or someone you know, or you just admire their work, every penny you raise for FREE just by clicking through the Give as you Live site or app will help fund their work and may just save another person. Join for FREE now.
  • Download the toolkit from MHFA. If you work with young people or you are a parent, this free toolkit is filled with practical tips, links and downloadable content designed to give you a set of bite-size facts and tips on the mental health of young people aged 8-24. Download it here.

It’s great that there is so much going on, but why?

If you’re not sure where to start with what mental health problems actually are and how they affect us, this video from Mind will help make things a little clearer.
