The Black & White Ball, hosted by Kirsty Ashton, MBE

The team representing Give as you Live.

Last Saturday was the night of The Black and White Ball, hosted by our very own Give as you Live ambassador, Kirsty Ashton. The evening was dedicated to raising as much money as possible for When You Wish Upon A Star.

We had bought our tickets months in advance so it was exciting to be finally attending. We were greeted by Kirsty along with people on stilts dressed head to toe in black and white costumes (of course).

There was jazz music, a delicious three-course meal, an auction and dancing until the early hours. We were especially impressed with little Kenzi, just nine years old and performed a Beyoncé hit for the 300+ guests.

We were overwhelmed by the generosity shown during the auction, although there was some brilliant stuff to bid for. Tickets to the X-Factor final, dream holidays, One Direction concert tickets, not to mention the ‘build a bear’ bears that went for a whopping £800!

We were lucky to have been introduced to some of the charity patrons and other celebrities who attended to show their support. Will Mellor (who you may recognise from TV programmes such as Hollyoaks and 2 Pints of Lager & a Packet of Crisps), Rachel Shenton (Mitzeee from Hollyoaks), Nikki Sanderson (Candice from Coronation Street) and Mike Lewis (aka Saracen from Gladiators).

Towards the end of the night Will Mellor sang a few songs, and when the drinks were in full flow, the guests took their seats on the dance floor for Oops Upside Your Head! You’ll find some of our party pics below.

We’ve heard that the ball raised a total of £60,000 which is really amazing. Our regular readers may be aware that Kirsty’s goal this year is to reach a total fundraising amount of £250,000, so this will be a big chunk towards that total.

It was a fantastic evening and we’ll certainly be attending again next year!

You can help her continue to work towards that by signing up for Give as you Live. Just doing your Christmas shopping online will raise a fair amount of money, and all at no additional cost to you. Sign up via Kirsty’s store front, just click ‘Discover Give as you Live.’
