Ways to Raise Money for Sports Relief

Sports Relief returns to our screens later this month from 17 to 23 March, and this time will be marked with an entire week of awareness and fundraising activities. There are plenty of different ways for people to get involved, including the national ‘Billion Steps’ challenge. This encourages users to download an app to track their daily step count and see if a new national walking record can be achieved – tackling conditions such obesity and heart conditions in the process.

Celebrity Challenges and Community Fun

There will be a range of celebrity sports challenges, including cycling, running and boxing, awareness-raising programmes to promote the benefit of sport and exercise and live events designed to include as many participants as possible in activities.

Funds raised go to a number of charities and projects which tackle everything from domestic violence to mental health. But what are the different ways you can raise funds for this exciting annual campaign, which is part of Comic Relief?

There is the usual direct giving, and the televised events will share information about how you can give via your phone or online. There will also be opportunities to give to collections at local community events and to send in contributions. Phone lines will be open during live events to take donations in the style of Comic Relief and other nationally televised charity events. It’s easy to donate and fantastic to get involved in making a difference. Remember that even the smallest contribution and level of involvement can help when aggregated together UK-wide.

Quick, Free to Use and Easy

You can even raise money for Sports Relief just by shopping! It couldn’t be easier. Simply set up a free account in just a few minutes with Give As You Live. From that point, simply click through the retailers that you are interested in when you want to shop online. You can search for them directly in the Give As You Live website or browse categories of interest. As long as you are logged in and click on your retailer of choice via the GAYL website, a donation will be made to your charity of choice. This can be a fixed amount or a percentage of your online shopping spend. A summary page is shown before you click through to your retail destination, telling you just how much your chosen charity will receive.

Just remember to select Sports Relief as your charity of choice in your account area. It couldn’t be easier to raise money for great causes simply by clicking through the Give As You Live website and going directly to your retailer of choice.

It’s all free and takes just a few minutes to set up your private account. From that point, simply remember to start all of your online shopping activities via Give As You Live, and save it to your bookmarks. You’ll be amazed at how quickly you can rack up donations without actually paying anything extra yourself – which is good news for everyone, especially for the charities supported by Sports Relief!
