Name: Liz Monks
Profession: Fundraising Director
Bio: I am a director of breast cancer charity, Breast Cancer Campaign – fan of Liverpool FC, Nick Cave and those cherry Haribo Tangfantastics (which are bad I know, but so good!)
My Give as you Live Experience: Excellent – Breast Cancer Campaign is benefiting from Give As You Live, and so when I needed to replenish our household supplies this was an easy way to order on-line, and to give to my favourite charity. The beauty of this, I discovered, is that by downloading the simple app, and filling in a very easy form – and yes it really is that simple, that GAYL is linked to many of the websites that you might be buying from anyway. They offer a clear donation to charity – so you know you’re not paying a penny more than you would otherwise do, and know how much you’re giving.
I am afraid my story of what I bought is somewhat mundane, but that’s the beauty dear friends – as you can find ways to give to charity just buying those everyday necessities. I chose my online grocer, Asda, and bought a bunch of groceries, and took advantage of their special offers on Vanish, Dettol and Finish. At every point on the Asda site, I could see the savings I was making, and as I completed my check out – Give as you live showed me how much I’d donated to Breast Cancer Campaign. I’ve since bought items from Boots and Debenhams – it’s a great reminder.
Or as the meerkat would say, “simples”.
