With the tinsel sprinkled and the baubles delicately placed; Christmas is known as a magical and peaceful time of the year, however, this is not the case for everyone. However, here at HQ, we are helping out as much as we can to make Christmas a happy time for everyone. After all, it is the season of goodwill, sharing and caring!
Over the past week or so we have been getting involved with CCP’s Hamper Scamper, Christmas Giving Scheme to show our support this Christmas.
The Give as you Live team took part in the wrapping station initiative held at Regents Arcade in Cheltenham. CCP operates the wrapping station which is open to the public allowing them to make a monetary donation in exchange for volunteers wrapping their Christmas gifts. Over just a few hours almost 50 gifts were wrapped and presented back to the customer with a box and ribbon delicately placed on top.
The team also took part in a food collection for CCP this year, donating essential items including biscuits, pasta and rice as well as tinned goods such as tuna, beans and soup. This much-needed food will be available for those in need to collect over the Christmas period.
CCP receives information from local authorities of disadvantaged children in Gloucestershire and Worcestershire, with their interests or gift preference. Here at Give as you Live HQ each one of us received one of these gift tags with the name of the child, gender, age and details of their gift preference. We then purchased a gift for this child to receive at Christmas.
Lastly, the team helped CCP organize and sort through over 400 gifts donated from across Gloucestershire and Worcestershire from the gift tag event. Throughout the volunteering day, the team logged presents for each child ensuring that everyone had a gift. This initiative was a huge success with over 2,000 presents donated in total!
