Drink Coffee to Lower Diabetes Risk

Coffee has a bad reputation in some quarters when it comes to health, but a new study released for World Diabetes Day has revealed that drinking as many as four cups a day could actually lower your chance of getting type 2 diabetes by a quarter.

The Institute for Scientific Information on Coffee announced the good news after putting together the results of numerous other studies, and the study certainly cannot be ignored, given that there are more than 380 million diabetes sufferers in the world today.

Many people limit themselves to just a couple of cups of coffee every day, but it may actually be better to have three or four. What a chore! In general, coffee can improve your metabolism, prevent the absorption of some sugars and reduce the chances of overeating by suppressing your appetite.

The type of coffee you drink is important, however. Caffeinated coffee is believed to be less beneficial than decaffeinated varieties, and filtered is more likely to protect against diabetes than other types. Now there’s the perfect excuse to invest in a good-quality coffee machine to produce great-tasting filter coffee with added benefits to your health.
