Amid a busy schedule of presenting (The Circle, Delivering Babies, The Voice) and family life, TV’s Emma Willis has still found time to produce her first Autumn/Winter collection with the team at Next.
The collection has everything that has proved popular with her previous ranges – smart yet comfortable tailoring, snuggly pyjamas, well-cut trousers – but this one marks a new step. For the first time, Emma has designed a line of lingerie to complement the rest of the collection, and it certainly got her thinking!
Emma was excited to design her first lingerie items, taking the opportunity to make the pieces she’s always had in mind and not been able to find in stores – elegantly simple, but comfortable, sets and bodies that sit well under any outfit. But it was a slightly different story when it came to the photoshoot.
“It felt really good to sit down with the team and create these pieces…but being on set shooting it was absolutely terrifying!”
Even though her debut range and Summer capsule collection earlier this year both featured swimwear, an underwear shoot is another level. Naturally, the experience led to Emma thinking about her relationship with her body.
Feeling comfortable in one’s own skin
For Emma it was, somewhat unusually, when she started a family that she really began feeling comfortable in her own skin. “You realise what your body is there to do, what it’s capable of and what it can achieve,” she says.
Wanting to support this feeling and acknowledging how her body has changed played a key role in the designs chosen for the lingerie. The softness of the material, the full briefs “because as your butt grows, it’s nice to feel supported”, and the soft-cupped bras without a wire in sight are all about comfort.
And continuing the body positivity theme, every item is available in sizes 6-22.
Cosy clothes for colder months in the new collection
The rest of the range is classic Emma Willis, with her signature style brought to her first range for colder months. There are jumpers, coats and paperbag-waisted trousers in soft neutral colours, combined with the iconic trouser suit and other tailoring in brighter tones.
The long and short pyjama sets are perfect for keeping toasty indoors, with the new starry sky print, and Emma loves a long cardigan or bedroom robe for throwing over the top.
