Essential Wardrobe Additions Following London Fashion Week

The paparazzi and fashion photographers may have moved over to Milan, but there is still plenty of buzz left in Blighty following London Fashion Week. There’s no doubt that there were plenty of great looks on show — and the odd dodgy one too — but here’s the lowdown on some of the ones most likely to find a place in your wardrobe very soon.

School Days | From pleated skirts to handbags resembling pencil cases, there was a definite school-days theme at this year’s shows. You’ll be keeping more than just pencils in Anya Hindmarch-inspired clutch bags, but you can still decorate them with stickers — just as the designer did this year. Pleats will also be everywhere with backing from designers such as Christopher Kane, J. JS Lee, Barbara Casasola, Margaret Howell and Peter Pilotto.

Overlapping CurvesJasper Conran, Stella McCartney and Christopher Kane all featured Venn-diagram-style colourful curves, so expect to see the look everywhere on the high street too.

Slouchy Skirts | Ladies without perfect pins will be jumping for joy this year thanks to a trend of long and slouchy skirts set by the likes of Jonathan Saunders, Richard Nicoll and Emilia Wickstead. Wear yours with a kitten heel and a crisp white shirt for the perfect catwalk look.

Sporty Steps | Trainers were big news at the shows, both on and off the catwalks. There were plenty of Nike Air Max and Adidas Gazelles in the audience, whilst Temperley and Burberry showed off their own designs.
