Congratulations to The Uphill Trust on becoming our charity of the fortnight.
So far we’ve helped raise just over £400 for The Uphill Trust just by shopping, ordering, and fundraising online via Give as you Live.
What does The Uphill Trust do?
The Uphill Trust is a small Scottish charity founded in January 2015 to support the work of Uphill Junior School, a privately owned Primary School with Kindergarten in rural western Uganda.
The Uphill Trust’s main goals are to provide suitably equipped school buildings with a teacher in every classroom; to help to provide clean water and good sanitation and to support the education of girls, orphans and children affected by extreme poverty and/or HIV/AIDS.
When The Uphill Trust was formed, the school was teaching around 190 children in small wooden classrooms. Three years on, the school is housed on a permanent, secure site with good latrines, water harvesting facilities, a playground for the kindergarten children and a building program for good quality classrooms for all year groups. Around 275 children (from 3-13 years old) now attend Uphill Junior School and all this has been made possible by donations raised from individual donors and community groups in the UK. A little of what we have here goes a long way in rural Uganda!
