Give as You Live Internet Explorer Upgrade

Since the release of the Give as you Live App we have been monitoring our users feedback. We’re pleased to share with you the following enhancements that have been released. We will tell you if a newer version of Give as you Live is available by displaying a message in the App window. To update your version of Give as you Live please click on the download now link in the App window message.

Version enhancements include:

Fix: Store List not always downloaded properly on Wireless laptops.
On occasions, the downloading of store information for use with the App was not possible due to no internet connection being available to wirelessly-connected PCs. This caused the message “Sorry, you cannot Give as you Live™ on this site” to appear on supported sites.

Fix: Accessibility problem – layout of pages incorrect on magnified Internet Explorers.
When using the zoom accessibility feature in the browser, the contents of the App window were enlarged within the fixed-size pane, causing parts of the App to be unusable. The zoom feature is now disabled within the App window and stays at 100% regardless of the magnification of the main window.

Fix: Installer support for multiple Windows accounts on the same machine
Previously, when installing the App on a machine, installation was carried out fully for the administrator account and only partially for other user accounts. The App now installs to the administrator account and also to other user accounts on the machine but in a disabled state. Other users of the machine can enable the App in their browser through Tools.. Manage Add-ons.

If the installation is carried out on a machine linked to a Windows domain, all users using the machine will have the App installed and enabled

Enhancement: Support for Ctrl-C (Copy) and Ctrl-V (Paste) keyboard commands
Popup windows opened from the App now permit Ctrl-C (Copy) and Ctrl-V (Paste) keyboard commands

    I have recently downloaded the Give as You Live app onto my laptop using the internet explorer browser, when I go onto a website and click on the icon a message comes up each time saying the internet browser has stopped working due to a Appcrash named problem. Please could you let me know how I would rectify this? I would love to be able to donate to my chosen charity through Amazon in particular.

      Hi Charlotte

      I’m sorry to hear that the App isn’t working correctly. The issue you’re experiencing usually happens if the App hasn’t installed correctly, so I recommend that you go back to and re-download Give as you Live. Be sure to restart Internet Explorer after installing the App.

      If are the reinstall you are still having problems, in Internet Explorer go to Tools > Manage Add-ons. In the new window that appears, there should be two Give as you Live entries and both should be enabled. It’s possible that your security software has disabled one of the entries for some reason.

    In future upgrades of give as you live, please consider having an option to check that you do wish to support give as you live when you go directly to a website and that one click is enough – dont need to be asked the question every time you visit the web site.

      Hi Anne

      Thanks for your feedback. We would love to be able to do this, however Give as you Live™ has to ask every time for technical reasons. If we didn’t ask, there would be a greater chance of any transactions not being tracked and we want all your online transactions to benefit your chosen cause.

    Does my giving to my charity still happen when I visit a website, as well as give as you live?

      Thanks for your comment. Our aim is for users to raise funds for their chosen cause as they shop online, with minimal changes to their shopping habits. Therefore, we have designed the Give as you Live™ App to go with you as you shop online. So if you go directly to a supported store, the App will ask you if you want to start raising funds. If you’re not sure if a site is supported, you can check by clicking the Give as you Live™ icon in your toolbar.
