We are very excited to announce that after a year of running our  Donor survey, Meningitis Now has been selected at random as the winner of the £5000 donation!

Every person who completes the Donor survey gets entered into the prize draw to win their charity £5000, here’s a bit more about 2014’s winning charity…

Meningitis Now is a new charity, that brings together Meningitis UK and Meningitis Trust, allowing them to really harness their almost 30 years’ experience and lead the fight against Meningitis in the UK.

Meningitis Now are working towards a future where no one in the UK loses their life to meningitis and everyone affected gets the support they need. They save lives by funding research into vaccines and prevention and reducing the impact of the disease by raising awareness and rebuilding futures through dedicated support to people living with the impact of meningitis.

Meningitis Now needs to raise £10,000 a day to continue to save lives and rebuild futures, so the £5000 donation is a fantastic contribution to their ongoing work.

Sue Davie, Chief Executive of Meningitis Now, said: “It’s fantastic to win this generous donation and we’re really grateful to (name of supporter) and Give as You Live for their support. As a charity which doesn’t receive any central Government funding we rely on the inspiration, generosity and energy of our amazing supporters to help us raise the vital funds we need. Every penny really does make a difference in our fight against this killer disease and together we are determined to beat it.”

Meningitis Now communicate Give as you Live to their supporters through social media channels and on their website. It also features throughout the year in regular monthly supporter mailing, eNews, their magazine News and on email signatures. They also encourage their staff and their family and friends to use it.

They would like to encourage all of their supporters to use Give as you Live and to build it into an important and regular source of income to the charity.

Andy Hopkinson, Senior Press Officer of Meningitis Now, said “What a brilliant idea Give as you Live is – the concept of raising money for a charity you support by just doing what you would be doing anyway and not spending any extra is a stroke of genius. And it’s quick and easy to sign up to and get going with; there’s really no excuse not to sign up today.”
