Congratulations to Parkinson’s UK becoming our featured charity!
We’ve helped raise over £22,000 for Parkinson’s UK just by shopping, ordering & fundraising online via Give as you Live.
Who are Parkinson’s UK and what do they do?
Parkinson’s is a progressive neurological condition. This means that it causes problems in the brain and gets worse over time. There’s currently no cure for Parkinson’s and we don’t yet know why people get the condition. But there are lots of different treatments, therapies and support available to help you manage the condition. Every hour, someone in the UK is told they have Parkinson’s. But because of the hard work and dedication that Parkinson’s UK give, no one has to face Parkinson’s alone.
Parkinson’s UK brings people with Parkinson’s, their carers and families together through their network of local groups and free confidential helpline. Specialist nurses, supporters and staff provide information and training on every aspect of Parkinson’s and make sure that support is available to those who require it. We also campaign to change attitudes and demand better services. Our work is totally dependent on donations. Help us to find a cure and improve life for everyone affected by Parkinson’s.
Where do the funds go?
– £5 over a year could fund support and information from 4 helpline advisers
– £10 could pay for 2 weeks of nutrients to grow brain cells in the lab for research
– £20 could fund an hour of care from a specialist Parkinson’s nurse
– £48 could fund a clinical researcher for two hours
“As the UK’s Parkinson’s support and research charity we’re leading the work to find a cure, and we’re closer than ever”
