Jeans for Genes Day raises money for the care and support of children with genetic disorders. They also raise awareness and promote understanding of what it means to be affected by a genetic disorder.
We talked to Laura Pattison, Marketing Director for Jeans for Genes, who said:
“Everyone will want to look their best this Friday 5th October, because it’s this year’s Jeans for Genes Day. And we’re encouraging all our supporters to buy their new jeans using Give as You Live.
“It’s a great way to maximise your good intentions. Every time you buy jeans online from stores like Levi, Gap, Donna Ida, Tesco or Asda, they will donate a percentage of what you spent to Jeans for Genes Day. It’s easy, effective and won’t cost you a penny, so you can look good and feel good too!”
Time for some new jeans!
Will you be taking part? We’re hoping to organise something in our office – in fact the quirky office Olympics idea sounds like great fun!
Why not start planning now, and start raising funds for the charity by purchasing what you need online through Give as you Live?
The first priority, of course, will be your new pair of jeans to mark the occasion (any excuse right?!) Donna Ida, Selfridges, Topshop: there are hundreds of stores to choose from, who will all donate a percentage of what you spend to Jeans for Genes day.
Hold fundraising activities
As well as wearing your jeans and making a donation, there are lots of other ways that you could raise funds to mark the occasion.
Hold a cake sale at work, issue ‘fines’ people for not wearing jeans, or set up a nail bar at work and charge for each colleague who wants their nails painted denim blue.
Jeans for Genes day at school
Schools and nurseries can also mark the day and get the kids involved.
Do some arts and crafts, then hold an exhibition that parents can pay to attend, sponsor your teacher to wear fancy dress, or make jeans for genes badges and sell them at lunchtime.
Remember, remember… the 5th of, um, October
