The Rare Breeds Survival Trust (RBST) Christmas campaign is underway with its personalised Give as you Live Christmas banner in prime position on their support page. With income from online shopping already coming through, the Trust sees the Christmas campaign as just the start of things to come. “It’s easy to just focus on Give as you Live at Christmas. We plan to continue promoting it throughout the year” says Charles Bourne, Head of Fundraising and Marketing.
The RBST is the leading national charity working to conserve and protect the United Kingdom’s rare native breeds of farm animals from extinction. Intensive food production methods and economic pressures led to many of the UK’s native breeds being lost. Since the formation of RBST in 1973 not one native breed has become extinct. With headquarters in Warwickshire, RBST and its national network of volunteers, work hard to reach their £700,000 annual target. “The money we raise from Give as you Live helps us carry out essential conservation work, such as performing breed analysis and buying important animals for breeding programmes,” says Conservation Officer Claire Barber. 2013 is the charity’s 40th anniversary year – a reason for celebration and looking ahead.
RBST is promoting Give as you Live extensively through their social media, website, e-newsletters and quarterly membership magazine. “We want greatly to increase the number of people shopping for RBST. It’s one of the easiest ways our supporters can help us raise money. Give as you Live does everything possible to try and help us and our supporters. It is a great tool and we look forward to using it as much as we can,” says Charles Bourne.
