Rockin’ Tunes to Get You in the Festive Mood

People are already bombarding iTunes with requests for Christmas songs as they start getting themselves in the mood for the festive season. Here’s a look at the most recent top five Christmas songs that have been downloaded. Who knows, it may even give you a good idea for a great Christmas gift.

All I Want For Christmas Is You – Mariah Carey | There’s nothing better than a blast of Mariah to get you in the festive spirit. Even the hard men in the family will be reaching for the tissues if you put this on after a few sherries on Christmas Eve (although there may be a variety of reasons for this). This is one of the few modern tunes making it towards the top of iTunes Christmas chart right now.

Christmas / Sarajevo 12/24 (Instrumental) – Trans-Siberian Orchestra | This is simply stunning traditional Christmas music with a twist and is the perfect musical accompaniment to a festive gathering — if you don’t mind a bit of drama. If you like what you hear, you could pick up the Trans-Siberian Orchestra’s box set The Christmas Trilogy. This will move and excite even those who would not normally choose to listen to orchestral music.

Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree – Brenda Lee | If you prefer your Christmas music just as you prefer your lunch — that is, traditional — then this is the perfect choice to get those festive feathers fluttering. It’s only one to put on, though, if you don’t mind Aunty Mabel hitching up her skirt and doing a jog among your Christmas decorations.

Jingle Bell Rock – Bobby Helms | Another oldie but goodie, although you may end up feeling older than Santa when you try to explain to the kids or grandkids who is doing the singing.
