Shopping for good, for school uniform

Name: Kerry Smith
Profession: Full time Mum
Location: Cheltenham
Bio: I am 25 years old and a mummy to two beautiful little girls; Chloe Jade- 6, and Lola Blu- 22 months.

My Give as you Live Experience:
My hobbies are based around the girls; we enjoy swimming, walking (usually to the park), going to the cinema (usually on a Saturday morning to watch a kids film) and my most recent and time consuming hobby is potty training Lola!

When I am not chasing Lola around with a potty and helping Chloe write stories and bake cakes, I am doing my favourite hobby… shopping!! Unfortunately, as it’s the summer holiday, I haven’t had much time for shopping lately!

I have been putting off going shopping for the last few things for Chloe’s school uniform for weeks; it’s not so fun traipsing around the shops with a buggy and a bored 6-year-old.

I was telling my sister about how much I was dreading it and she suggested doing it online and told me about Give as you Live. I couldn’t believe how easy it is to help out a charity just by buying something that I would have bought anyway. I registered my details straight away, which didn’t take long at all.

Then, Chloe and I went onto the Debenhams website and chose her a lovely new coat for school and some P.E pumps. The purchase was over £30 so we got free delivery and if there are any problems I can always pop to town and return the items to Debenhams. Chloe was very impressed that buying her new coat had helped out a charity.

I chose the Alzheimer’s society as my charity to give to because both my partner and I have grandparents suffering from Alzheimer’s and therefore both our families are affected by it, especially our mums.

I must admit I don’t usually have time to stop and think about giving to charity but it’s so easy to do it through the website that I’ll be doing it all the time now! I love the way that when I go onto a shops website that it participating in Give as you Live it tells me straight away and automatically gives a percentage of the money to charity without me having to do a thing- or spend any extra!
