Top Ten Festival Fashion Essentials

Festival season is almost here again, and whilst it’s probably not worth splashing out a fortune on outfits that will probably be covered in mud and goodness knows what else within a couple of hours, there are a few fashion essentials out there that you simply cannot afford to be without. Here are ten festival must-haves that will ensure your look will rock whatever the weather – or the amounts of mud.

A Great Necklace | Whether you’re planning on spending your days wearing a t-shirt and jeans or nothing more than a string bikini, a great necklace is essential. The Feather Leather Necklace, £24.99 from Mango, says ‘festival’ more than the Glastonbury welcome sign. Or attract the beady eyes of others with the Multirow Bead and Charm Necklace, £15 from ASOS.

Bundles of Bracelets | It’s a good job the music’s loud at festivals because otherwise the jangle of bracelets would be deafening. Make sure you’re adding to the fashion noise with a pack of six Gold Drop Disk Bangles, £7.50 from Dorothy Perkins, or add to the bangle jangle with an H&M eight-pack of bracelets for £7.99.

The Denim Shorts | No festival chick worth her salt would head out without a pair of cut-offs in her bag. If you’ve got the legs, Liquor & Poker’s Low Rise Raw Edge Denim Short With Visible Pockets, £28 from Asos, are as hot as they come.

Tasselled Top | Don’t be left on the fringes of festival fashion by packing at least one tasselled top. Keep your cool in a Fringe Cami, £25 from Topshop.

The Sunny Boots | Kick off your festival fun in style with a great pair of boots. Check out the pointed prowess of the Heine Leather Boots, £99 from Kaleidoscope. You’ll be kicking yourself if you don’t.

The Rainy-Day Boots | Who heard of a completely dry festival? Give the fashion stakes some welly in a pair of Selfridges Hunter Wellies, £120. Sunshine for your feet!

The Glasses | Put the other festival fashionistas in the shade with a great pair of sunglasses, such as the too-cool Kerry Sunglasses, just £8 from Monki. Who cares if you lose them at that price?

The Hat | Whatever the weather, a top hat will put you ahead of the crowd. Feel and look like a movie star in New Look’s White Stripe Trim Oversized Floppy Hat, £12.99.

Flowers for your Hair | A flower garland is a must-have for any festival, and the Flower Rose Crown Bando, £8 from Accessorize, will leave you looking pretty in pink.

A Maxi Dress | If you want the maxi-mum style with the minimum effort, a long dress is the way to go. The Mixed Ditsy Print Maxi, £40 from Asos, is a winner, not least because it won’t show up those inevitable grass stains and mud prints like some of the lighter-coloured dresses will do.
