UK shoppers spend over £1m online for charity in 2011 through Give as you Live

We’re proud to announce that so far Give as you Live has enabled over 4,000 online shoppers within the UK, to donate to the charities of their choice, through their online shopping, spending a staggering £1million.

Susan Agate from Cambridge said “It was an amazing experience doing my Christmas shopping through Give as you Live. At such a giving time of year, it was fantastic to be able to donate to those less fortunate than me. I managed to raise over £29.44 which Give as you Live passed on to Battersea Dogs & Cats Home.”

The best news is that Give as you Live is becoming a part of their everyday online shopping practice. Our aim is to grow these figures substantially within 2012 to help shoppers raise as much as possible for their favourite charities.

Sue Piper, Senior Corporate Fundraising Manager, The Cystic Fibrosis Trust said “The economic downturn still seems to reflect strongly in recent donations; however news that over £1m has been spent through Give as you Live is an uplifting start to 2012. Give as you Live is a brilliant way in which people can still give to their favourite charity without interrupting their everyday activities.”

We now have over 1,700 retailers on board, including big names such as John Lewis, Debenhams, Waitrose, Harrods, and Tesco. Each store will donate varying amounts, depending on how much the customer has spent; all amounts are shown on our website under the store’s profile.
