After releasing a successful autumn/winter fashion collection with Next in September, presenter-turned-designer Emma Willis is back with a winter capsule range – and we want it all.
The collection need-to-know
Emma’s latest collection ticks all the boxes. Comprised of over 30 pieces, there are items appropriate for staying curled up by the fire at home and others that are more suitable for twinkly nights out.
Tailoring has those festive occasions covered with an all-black capsule collection. With everything from jumpsuits and co-ords to elegant wide-legged trousers and midi dresses in comfortable, easy to wear styles, there is something for everyone.
For those crisp winter walks or chilly morning school runs, the khaki longline puffa and oversized knits are sure to keep you toasty, while nightwear for winter is all about soft, comfy fabrics in delicate dusky pinks.
Lingerie sees a luxe velvet robe and lace-trimmed cami set in deep midnight navy, as well as a soft-cupped velvet lingerie set.
The design process
Emma is no stranger to the challenges involved in designing an entire fashion collection and in a previous interview said she would “combust” if she had to work in this field full-time. Now with a fourth fashion collection under her belt, she admits she feels more confident:
“Working with Next is always so much fun and I feel like with each collection I become more confident and familiar with the design process. It’s so important to me that the pieces in my collection are items that I would actually wear and would want to buy myself, we’ve worked really hard this time around to include wardrobe staples and occasion wear for winter in easy, comfortable and timeless styles.”
When we asked about her favourite pieces from this collection, she responded:
“I think my favourite pieces from this latest collection are the chunky and thin knits and the aviator coat, so cosy for those chilly wintery days!”
As with previous collections, Emma looks for inspiration wherever she goes, crediting her busy lifestyle as a source for finding intricate patterns and colour schemes. Locations are also a much-needed muse for her collections.
“I love Ibiza – a great place for inspiration. Out and about in London, seeing people on the streets and how people wear things. It’s looking at individual style and how people might wear the same dress a hundred different ways, depending on your personal style and body shape.”
The new jewellery pieces
Having added lingerie to her previous collection, she now brings jewellery into her ever-expanding range, adding accessories as part of her collection mix.
“I love jewellery so it’s great to get to create my own. I think finding key pieces of jewellery that you love and can wear with everything is essential and that’s what I’ve tried to do with these pieces. They’re trinket-type, delicate items to wear both day and night with any outfit. No fuss or overthinking, just easy.
The collection consists of seven gold plated sterling silver items, including rings, ear cuffs and necklaces. Delicate style pieces to add the finishing touches to any outfit they’re both beautiful and timeless.
Emma’s thoughts on the winter months and festive season
With the festive season fast approaching, Emma is particularly excited about bedding down and spending time with her family.
Although admitting her latest edit has plenty of Christmas Day-appropriate pieces (“the navy pleated dress or black midi dress would be good for Christmas Day if you wanted to dress up. Or even one of the big oversized knits with a pair of jeans”) Emma favours comfort over style.
