5 Easy Tips To Get Your Garden Organised

Garden tools including a wheel barrow, hose pipe, watering can and lawn mower.

We’ve all been there, chucking garden tools, toys and outdoor furniture into the corner of the back garden promising ourselves that one day we’ll get it organised. The next thing you know it is quickly an overgrown, unorganised mess.

Below are some top tips to help you get the garden you've always dreamed of!

1. Clear Out Old Items

This is your first step to getting your garden organised! Go through everything in your garden that you no longer need or use and decide whether you can recycle or donate the items. This will help declutter your garden and also benefit wildlife!

2. Group Items Together

After you have had a good clear-out, the next step to getting your garden organised is to list everything you need to store and begin by grouping similar items together. This can be arranged by product type or size. This will help give you an idea of what kind of storage options you may need.

3. Consider Storage Options

The time has come to think about where to store your stuff now that your garden is free of clutter. There is a wide range of storage items, from sheds to log stores to wipe-clean waterproof boxes to help keep your garden organised.

Before you buy, make sure you take the following things into consideration:

  • The space you have in your garden
  • Items you use the most (there's no point storing away items you use daily)
  • Are there ways you can upcycle?

4. Upcycle Where You Can

Whilst clearing your garden you may stumble upon some old items or furniture that can revamp your garden for little to no cost! A great storage idea is to give an old chest of drawers new life in the garden. You can freshen it up with some paint and maybe even attach wheels to make it easier to move around. This is the perfect way to store tools or even create a garden bed!

5. Create A Planting Schedule

All plants have different environments and conditions they need to thrive. By using a schedule to grow your plot, it will be easier to calculate the best time to plant certain flowers, vegetables or fruit. This will ensure that your garden is organised and beautiful all year round!

Etsy has a great range of Planting Calendars you can purchase that you can tailor to your needs! What's even better is you can raise a FREE donation for your charity when you purchase through Give as you Live Online!
