It seems like only yesterday that they broke up for the long summer holidays, but now’s the time to start thinking about your kids’ school uniforms for the start of the new term. September always seems to roll around faster than you think, and being caught unawares in the last week of the summer break could mean a panic dash to buy all the uniforms they’ll need in time.
Children outgrow clothes so quickly that it’s always well worth shopping around for the best deals on school uniforms, and there are plenty of bargains to be snapped up now if you know where to look.
Some of the best places to start are at the supermarkets, where you can pick up most of the essentials at the same time as doing your weekly shop. Asda has a great collection of school uniforms for both boys and girls of all ages. With the full range of colours, styles and sizes you’d expect, the George range covers everything from day-to-day classroom wear right down to socks and the often-overlooked PE kit essentials.
Tesco could also be a good port of call if you’re looking for a bargain on school uniforms. Their collections of boys’ uniforms and girls’ uniforms cover the full age spectrum, from infants all the way through to teenagers. They also have a plus-size collection and offer a handy embroidery service to save you time.
Although slightly more expensive, Marks and Spencer has an excellent high-quality uniform collection for all ages. Their school uniform shop covers everything they could need in terms of clothing for the new term, and their Easy Dressing range was designed with the help of the National Autistic Society.
If shopping online is more of your thing, then Amazon’s Uniforms Shop is well worth a look. Prices will, of course, vary from seller to seller, and unlike in a ‘real world’ shop where you can get the kids to try things on, here you do run the risk of your items turning up and not being the perfect fit. It’s certainly more convenient and less stressful, though!
Finally, Matalan offer an excellent choice of school uniforms, and they may well be top of the class when it comes to price. There are some great offers here when you buy multipacks, and given how fast the kids seem to get through them, that can be a blessing!
Don’t get caught out by the start of September – start shopping around for school uniform deals now and make sure they’re all kitted out well ahead of the new academic year.
