Counting down to the London Olympics

The team here at Give as you Live HQ are very excited about the start of the London 2012 Olympics. Events began on Wednesday with the ladies football; there was men’s football yesterday, and today archery at Lord’s cricket ground, followed by the official opening ceremony.

London 2012 invited everyone to join Big Ben in ‘ringing in’ the games at 8:12 this morning – did you ring a bell and take part? Even if it was your alarm clock… that still counts!

The ceremony ‘Isles of Wonder’ will kick off with the sound of the largest harmonically-tuned bell. There will then be a procession, several performances, speeches and much more. The big finale is the entrance of the Olympic flame, signalling the start of the games.

Give as you live with the games

The ceremony is showing this evening at 9pm on BBC1, with the build-up showing before hand from 7pm.
