One holiday booking = a £17.22 donation for my favourite charity, the British Heart Foundation

A guest post from Jane Burnham, Manager of Hyperion Travel

I signed up for Give as you Live last year when my colleague told me of how I could raise money for my chosen charity, just by doing my job.

I was trying to book a short break in Eastbourne for my mother and my aunt. I looked on the internet and found a suitable hotel for them – The Burlington Hotel. I called them to ask a couple of questions of the hotel, mainly would it be suitable for both ladies as they are now in their eighties.

When I phoned I found that the hotel was part of the Shearings Group of hotels. Once my mind had been put at rest I went online to book the holiday. I saw that if I booked via the Shearings website I could earn money for the BHF.

The booking was made successfully and I had confirmation today that I have earned £17.22 for the charity, bringing my total to over £104.00. This charity is close very close to my heart and anything that I can raise for them can only help other people. If only everyone did this how much more could the charities do? My £17.22 does not sound a lot, but if you multiply that by everyone that is signed up it makes a huge difference.

My mother is also very happy that by making her holiday booking she is indirectly helping people less fortunate than herself. I can see that I will be booking this way more often for her holidays.
